From the Citizen Soldier side: While we were at our "Summer Camp" another unit came to the pistol range I was running. After I helped some of their officers qualify on the pistol, they asked if we could help them later in the week....on the machine gun range.
Now, my idea of helping somebody with weapons involves firing them....It is hard to explain how much fun this was. Thank you US tax payers. This was you dollars at work. The M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) 5.56 mm, gas operated, belt fed machine gun.

Your welcome!
What on earth are you shooting at? Is the target 10 miles away? I only say this as a concerned US taxpayer, what a waste of ammo.
Dear Tax Payer,
Although you can't see it, there was the remains of an old rusted out tank about 500 meters down range. The objective of this exercise is to have rounds hit the tank to force them to stay "buttoned up". This was a denostration to show the REMFs who were there how to engage a target at long range.
And, as a matter of fact, with the taxes I paid last year, I have no problems with expending the ammo.
Now that was some kick *ss shooting!! Nice video... ;)
Heeheee, good rebutal, D...
I'd rather see tax dollars at work in the competent training of our military anyday than truly "shot to hell" in the wasteful ways I see on a daily basis in the field of education and elsewhere.
Oh, and by the way, "Tax Payer", I find it amusing you posted anon...
The USAF spends more on one experimental jet that all the small arms in the US Army put together.
For any war or "peace keeping" misson I've been on, we still needed soldiers, marines and "others" on the ground to get the job done.
Oh yeah, Taxpayer... I realized after looking at the video again...most taxpayers wouldn't even be able to see the targets. Next time I'll have a big one 5 meters away and only fire one fucking shot so you get you're money's worth.
Can you bring one of those to our next range? If you do I will buy you a cup of coffee!!! How can you pass up this deal? Act, now the coffey is going fast!
Madman, if you can get a purchase order for a few boxes of ammo, I'll see what I can do.
Or, you can sign up...we have openings.
Well I'd have a go at Taxpaper myself but you all seem to have them in good hand. Carry on...even if *I* didn't get any cool pictures...*lower lip quivering*
I never thought of a "barrel of monkeys" as being all that fun.
I would think it would be more well, horrifying.
